WHERE IS THE HENRY COUNTY COURTHOUSE?

“The Henry County Courthouse” can refer to seven different buildings in seven different places.  Six of these courthouses handle criminal cases.

If your loved one was just arrested, their first court appearance will be in the Henry County Magistrate Court.  There is a special courtroom in the jail where first appearances and committal hearings are conducted.  The address is 120 Henry County Parkway, McDonough, Georgia, 30253.  First appearances are held at 8:00 am Monday through Saturday.

The Henry County Courthouse that handles felony trials and arraignments is the Henry County Superior Court.  The address is One Courthouse Square, McDonough, Georgia, 30253.  This is the historic court house on built in 1895.  It is located on the McDonough Square and boasts a distinctive clock tower.

Misdemeanor charges, including DUI and shoplifting, are handled by four different courts.  Look at your ticket, roughly two thirds of the way down the page, to see what court you are in.

The Henry County State Court handles all offenses committed in unincorporated Henry County as well as the City of Stockbridge.  Its address is 44 Frank Ward Blvd., McDonough, Georgia 30253.

The City Court of McDonough handles most misdemeanors committed in the City of McDonough.  The City Court of McDonough is located at 40 Lawrenceville St., McDonough, Georgia 30253.  The courthouse has tall columns on its front face and a water fountain in front of the columns.

The City Court of Locust Grove handles most misdemeanors committed in the City of Locust Grove.  This court is located in the same building as the City’s police headquarters.  The address for the City Court of Locust Grove is 99 Frances Ward Dr, Locust Grove, GA 30248.

The City Court of Hampton handles most misdemeanor cases arising in the City of Hampton.  The City Court of Hampton is located in Hampton the City Hall at 4 McDonough St., Hampton, GA 30228.

It is important to look up which courthouse your case is in before your court date.  In criminal cases, going to the wrong courthouse can result in the issuance of a bench warrant and significant jail time.
